CREATE, COLLABORATE & CELEBRATE

Schools Workshops are designed to improve children and young people’s creativity, confidence and interpersonal skills as well as introduce them to a range of performing, creative and digital disciplines. 

  • Performing Arts include Dance, Singing, Acting & Script Writing. 
  • Creative and Digital Arts include Filmmaking, Animation & Podcasting. 
  • Bespoke Sessions include Careers, Wellbeing, Identity and more… 

Workshops can be tailored to meet specific themes, styles and topics to engage Key Stages 1 to 5.  

You can book the following Wac Arts Schools Activity: 

  • Workshop/s -Individual or multiple sessions to fit within your school timetable 
  • Extra- Curricular – Afterschool club or enrichment 

We also welcome schools to bring student groups to Wac Arts at the Old Town Hall for creative engagement activities. 

Introductory SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Introductory workshops are an exciting example of the sessions Wac Arts facilitate.

Introduction to Drama, Devising and Performance

In this workshop, participants will explore a range of vocal and physical drama skills through warmups and games. They will work collaboratively in groups to devise a short piece utilising these skills, exploring their identity and individuality. There will be the opportunity to perform and share at the end of the workshop. This workshop can be adapted to suit any age group or level of experience. 

Introduction to Ensemble

Through games and exercises, we will develop collaborative skills essential for working as a collective ensemble. This session encourages participants to use breath and eye contact, linking skills that are vital for drama performance with collaborative working. 

Dance

Exploring different genres of movement and techniques through dance styles including, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Modern etc. This workshop can be tailored to support a health and well-being, creative expression through movement and developing choreographic style. 

Musical Theatre

Combining singing and dancing, participants will rehearse and perform a routine from a West End musical! Some schools have gone on to perform their work at end of year assemblies to show off their skills. 

Introduction to Animation

Discover the basics of Stop Frame Animation and create your own! This introductory session will introduce key techniques such as squash and stretch, encourage participants to utilise their creativity and bring their ideas to life using iPad software. 

Exploring Creative Careers within the Arts

A creative workshop focused on empowering young people to recognise their individual skills, values and qualities and how these align with their dreams and aspirations! This session can be focused on careers in the creative industries, or more generally to support participants with challenging transitions such as selecting GCSE or A-level options.

Previous Projects

Films & Podcasts with Banijay

Wac Arts partnered with Banijay an international Film Company to conduct film and podcasting workshops. The day involved a fantastic exchange of skills, industry tips, and tricks. Wac Arts warmly welcomed Coulsdon Sixth Form College and Regents Hill School, providing them with inspiration to soar in the film industry.

Drama Club at Fleet Primary School

Over 7 weeks, students at Fleet Primary School learnt new Drama skills through games and activities. In groups, they devised and rehearsed original pieces of physical theatre featuring their own scripts, exploring what makes each student Super Special! Drama Club performed their work onstage in the final week to an invited audience. 

Musical Theatre with St Peter’s

St. Peter’s Musical Theatre Takeover! Wac Arts collaborated with a highly talented Year 6 class for a Musical Theatre Day. The young people learned repertoire and delved into scenes from a West End show in one of the historic studios at the Old Town Hall.
