This exciting event is tailored for young people aged 4 to 14, offering a dynamic and diverse range of activities that promise to make their summer holidays unforgettable.

Time:

Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August (Inclusive) 

10:00 – 14:00 each day 

Price: £110 per week

Calling all little creatives! Our Preschool Summer School is tailor-made for 4-5-year-olds, offering an engaging array of activities that ignite young minds and hearts. Throughout the week, your child will dive into a world of creativity and knowledge, with activities including: 

  • Drama Adventures: Watch as your child’s imagination takes centre stage in our drama sessions, where they become characters in their own stories. 
  • Artistic Masterpieces: From mask making to drawing, our art sessions encourage self-expression and creativity, helping budding artists flourish. 
  • Musical Magic: Groove to the rhythm and explore the world of music in interactive music sessions, where every child is a musical maestro. 
  • Groove and move with Dance: Let the rhythm take over as your little ones discover the joy of dance. Our tutors teach the latest dance moves, fostering a love for movement and self-expression. 
  • Friendship Building: Your child will form bonds that last a lifetime, developing social skills and building confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Ages 6 – 14

Time: 10:00 – 16:00 each day 

Price: £165 per week

Age-Appropriate Grouping: We understand that every child is unique, which is why we group participants in small cohorts of no more than 25, ensuring a tailored experience for every age group.  

Four Exciting Sessions Daily: Each day at the Wac Arts Summer School is packed with thrilling activities designed to spark creativity and boost confidence. Each week there will be four activities selected, and you can view the weekly timetable below:

Week 1 – Creative & Digital

Sessions include Games, Digital Drawing, Film Making and Music Production. 

Delve into the world of contemporary digital arts and media, learn how to create dynamic digital drawings, explore the world of film making and learn the components of sound production. In this week there will be a special games workshop where young people play and take risks, developing team working skills and co-operation through healthy competition. 

 Week 2 – Stage Skills

Sessions Include Stage Dance, Creative Writing, Singing, Wigs Hair and Make Up (WHAM) 

Broaden your creative skills through the exploration of on and off-stage disciplines. Through stage dance young people develop a sense of presence and movement memory, though singing we’ll explore the range of voice and projection, in turn building confidence. This special week we introduce off stage skills to support young people write their own stories and scenes. Wigs, Hair and Makeup explore the techniques used to create weird and wonderful characters. 

Week 3 – Performance Skills

Sessions Include Commercial Dance, Drama, Glee Club and Puppetry. 

This week is all about creating the most dazzling, high energy, high impact performances. Street dance, drama and Glee Club are all about pushing your performance to the next level. This week is for you if you’re already a strong performer and want to strengthen your natural abilities. Puppetry is introduced this week to offer a new avenue to explore performance, character building and teamwork. 

Week 4 – Carnival

Sessions Include Afro-fusion Dance, Carnival Costumer/Props Making, and Djembe Drums

In preparation for Nottinghill Carnival, we’re excited to launch a special week of afro-Carribean inspired dance and music. Learn to grove to the rhythms of afro-fusion dance styles, and learn how to play Djembe drums. In this very special week, young people will also learn how to make their own carnival costumes and props.

Add-On Options: 

To make your child’s experience even more enjoyable and convenient, we offer the option to include Breakfast Club or Cinema Club to your booking. 

  • Breakfast Club runs from 8:30 – 9:45 and includes a bowl of cereal, a piece of fruit and a glass of fruit juice. Breakfast club is priced at £3 per day 
  • Cinema Club runs from 16:15 – 17:30 and includes popcorn and a small bottle of water. Cinema club is priced at £3 per day. 

Bursary 

*If you wish to apply for a bursary, please fill out the form below before booking. If eligible, you will receive the discount code from our team. Bursary discounts are available for participants aged 6+ taking part in our Summer School activities subject to eligibility and availability.  (We aim to provide bursaries for as many participants as possible and therefore, bursaries are capped at £55 per person per week for a maximum of 2 weeks over summer school. Please refer to our terms and conditions.) 

Wac Arts uses the arts to empower young people to transcend the barriers they face to opportunity and in so doing, plays its part to reduce persistent inequality in our society. In practice two principles are used to inform our decision-making:

1.      Classes and activities are priced at levels to ensure they are genuinely affordable for people and families on low incomes.

2.      Everyone at Wac Arts pays the same fee regardless of their ability to pay

Wac Arts can offer bursary support to the following:

  • The recipient is currently in care or is a care leaver.
  •  The recipient is aged between 4-30 and currently seeking asylum in the UK.
  • The recipient is a full-time carer for a parent or sibling.
  • The parent/ guardian/ young person is in receipt of universal credit.

Quality Assurance

All of Wac Arts classes adhere to our Quality Code, and tutors plan an annual curriculum of content that aligns with our Aims of Participation. Wac Arts has regular sharing’s of the class work, an end of year sharing in our large performance space, other external performance opportunities and our annual achievement awards. We survey our students, parents & guardians annually and evaluate this feedback to improve and grow our programme offer. Our tutors are observed three times per year to ensure the continued development and growth of the young people who choose to study with us. We have excellent facilities with full disabled access at our building in Belsize Park, as well as tutors who are passionate an committed to the growth and development of each of our students.
