Jazz Workout

Our high-energy dance workout classes will boost your strength, flexibility, movement memory, and coordination with our skill development. The classes are open to anyone looking to improve fitness and have fun in an informal setting.

Barre For All

Ages: 16 +

Day: Tuesday

Time: 7.30 pm – 8.30 pm

Term length: 30 weeks, paid in 3 termly instalments

Fee: £4 (1-hour class)

Fee with Bursary: £2 subject to availability

Come along to this friendly class where all levels are welcome! Barre is a full-body workout that is inspired by ballet and low-impact training such as Pilates and Yoga. Our tutor, a trained Ballet dancer and instructor and will clearly demonstrate all movements and give alternatives where necessary.

Songwriting

Day: Tuesday

Time: 4.00 pm – 5.30 pm

Term length: 30 weeks, paid in 3 termly instalments 

Fee: £6 (90-minute class)

This class is designed to develop your singing and songwriting voice. You’ll gain insight into song structures, lyrical content, and musical composition. Drawing inspiration from situations and surroundings, you’ll write meaningful songs. Building confidence in performing your own work, you’ll learn to write lyrics and create a unique sound. With a focus on vocal techniques and harmony, all experience levels are welcome.

Come and join Wac Arts new Contemporary Choir! Everyone is welcome at Sing Together and, that is exactly what we will do, enjoy singing together. Under the guidance of an experienced Singing Practitioner, you will learn a full repertoire of songs, singing in harmony and finding the joy in music.

Come and explore film in this brand-new class which will touch on a variety of aspects in the film making world including, but not limited to Content Creation, Short Clips, Documentaries, Film Production and Editing. You will work with our in-house cameras and editing suite to explore different techniques and build your own portfolio.

IRIE Dance Presents: Afro Fusion Dance for All

Age: 16+ (those aged 4+ can attend when accompanying a participant aged 16+)

Time: 6.30 pm – 7.30 pm

Wac Arts is collaborating with IRIE! Dance Theatre to bring Afro Fusion Dance for all every Wednesday. This class is open to all ages and abilities and, if you can’t find childcare you are welcome to bring your family along to join in!

DJEMBE

Day: Saturday

Time: 12.00 – 1.00 pm

Term length: 30 weeks, paid in 3 termly instalments

Fee: £2 (1-hour class)

This Class has been priced at a universally subsidised fee.

Welcome to Djembe! – a goblet drum, played with bare hands. You will learn to play in a group ensemble,  adapting to different rhythmic structures. You will develop your rhythm skills and musical theory, exploring traditional rhythms, solo phrases, and improvisation. You will master counter rhythms, syncopation, and polyrhythm. Whatever your level of skill and experience, there is a place for you in the group ensemble.

The Wac Arts Performers Company will work together as a musical theatre company, developing all three musical theatre disciplines to the highest standard.  The group, with their Director Russell Lucas, will first work towards a Christmas Cabaret before turning their attention to a full-scale musical which will be performed at the end of the academic year in a professional venue.

The Wac Arts Actors’ Company will develop essential skills such as ensemble work and team building, sight reading, and script analysis. Led by Director Katie Coull, the Actors Company will explore different themes and acting techniques, widening their skillset and learning how to authentically develop a character. The year will culminate in a performance at a professional theatre.
