Ballet

Wac Arts’ Ballet sessions offer a relaxed and inclusive environment where everyone is made to feel welcome, whether you’re new to ballet or returning to the barre. Each class begins with a gentle warm-up at the barre, focusing on exercises that stretch and strengthen the muscles to prepare the body for movement.

Participants are guided through a variety of classical ballet techniques, including pliés, tendus, pirouettes, jumps, leaps, and allegro combinations, all designed to build agility, coordination, and confidence.
Throughout the session, the Ballet tutor provides supportive instruction on posture, alignment, and expressive movement, helping dancers embody the grace and precision that define ballet. The class winds down with a calming cool-down and stretching sequence, leaving everyone feeling refreshed and accomplished.

Drama

Ages: 7 – 11

Day: Saturday

Time: 9.30 am – 10.30 am

Term Length: 10 weeks

Wac Arts’ Drama sessions explore different acting techniques such as improvisation, script work, and character development, such as developing skills in adapting your physicality to truly embody a character.
In our sessions you will build confidence and storytelling skills through dynamic workshops and performances. You will work on monologues, duologues, and scenes, as well as developing work in collaboration with others as an ensemble.
Whether you’re aspiring to become a professional actor or simply looking to boost your public speaking skills, these classes are the perfect fit for you.
Key Skills: Acting, improvisation, script analysis, characterisation, stage presence, vocal projection, ensemble drama and collaboration.

Animation

Ages: 7 – 11

Day: Saturday

Time: 11:30 – 1:00pm

Fee: £7.50 (90-minute class)

Term Length: 10 weeks

Wac Arts’ Animation sessions will explore the fundamentals of animation, including storyboarding, and character design.
You will use digital tools to create 2D and stop-motion animations, fostering creativity and technical skills.
You’ll get the opportunity to bring your characters to life while learning essential skills such as design, lighting, modelling, surfacing, and visual effects.
Drawing, illustration, and graphic design software are used to enhance the creative process. Under the guidance of our skilled instructor, you’ll learn the motion animation fundamentals, including storyboarding, material selection, and stop motion movement techniques.
Additionally, you can add a personal touch to your films by creating soundtracks using music and recorded dialogue.

Singing

Ages: 7 – 11

Day: Saturday

Time: 10.45 am – 11.45 am

Term Length: 10 weeks

Wac Arts’ Singing sessions will help you develop vocal techniques, such as breathing control, pitch, and tone learning songs that put those techniques into practice with emphasis on performance and vocal health.
You will explore a range of different music genres and styles, with songs from Musical Theatre, as well as pop and contemporary artists.
Session’s start with a warm-up introduced through games and vocal exercises exploring different parts of the voice. A key focus areas include improving your vocal range, mastering ‘Belt’/’Mix’ techniques, enhancing vocal agility, breath control, and phrasing.
You will also explore what songs and styles best suit your voice and delve into storytelling through song.
Throughout the term, you’ll work on your individual repertoire, as well as group songs in harmony, developing your confidence in singing solo and as part of an ensemble.

Advanced Dance Technique

Ages: 7 – 11

Day: Saturday

Time: 13:30-14:30pm

Wac Arts sessions in Advanced Dance Technique are designed for dancers who are ready to elevate their skills and push themselves further.
Sessions focus on refining core techniques, building strength, and mastering more complex movements. Through challenging exercises, you will enhance your agility, speed, balance, and coordination, which are key components in improving overall performance.
The sessions will also focus on more stylised performances and use contemporary dance to support the learning of advanced techniques.

Film Making

Ages: 7 – 11

Wac Arts’ Film Making sessions are perfect for aspiring filmmakers ready to dive into the world of short films. You will gain hands-on experience in scriptwriting, shooting, editing, and directing.
You will develop you skills in storytelling, camera work, and post-production skills to create short films and videos. You will learn about various filmmaking styles, roles on set, camera operation, lighting, sound recording, editing, and much more.
Key Skills: Scriptwriting, cinematography, directing, editing, storytelling, teamwork.

Dance

Ages: 7 – 11

Wac Arts’ Dance sessions introduce dancer’s to a variety of different styles, including contemporary, street dance, hip-hop, and musical theatre.
You will develop dance technique such as rhythm, body awareness, and creative expression, enhancing strength, flexibility, movement memory, and coordination.
Alongside leaning choreography and routines for performances, you will develop skills to create your own performance pieces.

Musical Theatre

Ages: 7 – 11

Time: 11.30 am – 1.00 pm

Term Length: 10 weeks

Wac Arts’ Musical Theatre class explores the three disciplines of Singing, Dance, and Acting, focusing on performance skills, stagecraft, and vocal technique to bring musicals to life.
Each week attendees take part in a vocal and physical warm up. Activities will help to develop vocal skills in melody, harmony and singing in ensemble, alongside refining physical control and coordination in dance, and exercises focused on gaining confidence in speech, and identifying and expressing emotions.
Our Musical Theatre sessions foster teamwork, with performance opportunities made available throughout the year.

Art & Design

Ages: 7 – 11

Djembe is a traditional West African goblet drum, played with bare hands.
At Wac Arts you will learn to play in a group ensemble in a lively cultural setting.
You will develop your rhythm skills and hand technique , exploring traditional rhythms, solo phrases, and improvisation. You will master counter rhythms, syncopation, and polyrhythm.
Whatever your level of skill and experience, there is a place for you in the group ensemble.
