We Are Wac Arts: Open Day

Wac Arts is celebrating its 40th Birthday and we would love for you to join us at our first event of the birthday year the We Are Wac Arts: Open Day.

The Open Day is on the 23rd September which is also the start of term for Senior Wac Arts, the original programme that started in Kentish Town in 1978!

Wac Arts knows that creativity is the key to unlocking opportunities for young people and the organisation looks forward to another 40 years of providing fully inclusive arts opportunities for all young people, breaking down barriers to arts for those who need us the most and creating innovative, inclusive and pioneering opportunities for the community in a safe space. Check out our 40th Birthday story.

Wac Arts will not just be celebrating on one day, to commemorate this milestone Wac Arts will be hosting a year of events from September 2018 – August 2019. Our community will be invited to join Wac Arts in celebrating at a various points across the year, a 3 day Arts Festival, Networking Breakfasts, Showcases, Exhibitions, Workshops and more.

Sign up to the Wac Arts Newsletter to be kept in the loop about our year of events and opportunities at Wac Arts.

Date: 23rd September 2018
Time: 11am – 5pm
Location: Atrium @ Wac Arts

To mark the start of a year of celebrations, we will be opening our doors to the community on Sunday 23rd September. Our Town Hall Tours will be a unique opportunity to find out more about the building and its rich heritage, with fun facts and the opportunity to explore the nooks and crannies of this 140 year old building that played a special part in history (did you know about the WWII bunkers on site, the Suffragette rallies or that Lulu was married in the Old Town Hall?!)

To find out more about the extraordinary work that happens at Wac Arts there will be an Inclusive technology workshop area, a chance to taste performing arts and media classes with an option to sign up to regular classes (if you are 14-26), and a creative space to develop your skills, find out more about Wac Arts, meet new friends and have fun. This area will feature open mic sessions, drama games and round table discussions (curated by the young people themselves!).

For the arty amongst you, Wac Arts will be launching the We Are Creative: Design a Logo campaign at the Open Day. There will be a Logo Design Station where you can work on logo designs and submit your design with the chance of it being used over the birthday year.
