Wac Arts goes Solar!

Wac Arts are proud to share that we have reduced our grid energy consumption, moving towards self-sufficiency, with the installation of new solar panels on our Arts Block roof!

Luigi Locorotondo, Head of Property Management, has reported that after one month of operation our solar rig has delivered approximately:

  • 1000 kg of CO₂ emissions saved
  • 68 equivalent trees planted
  • 16,000 km driven on sunshine

On weekends when building activity is reduced, we’ve noticed daytime solar energy production offsets our base load so effectively that it nearly balances out night-time consumption.

The installation was match funded by the London Borough of Camden’s Business Climate Fund, a scheme supporting business to make much needed improvements to support the ongoing impacts of climate change.

Prior to the installation Wac Arts had already undertaken a host of sustainable initiatives across the achieving a 10% reduction in energy consumption and carbon emissions, receiving recognition from the Mayor of London as a leading London business.

We are excited to continue our journey towards sustainability, as well as maintaining our historical Grade II listed heritage building. We are actively exploring the addition of more solar PV arrays, the installation of solar-powered charging stations in our car park, and recycling initiatives. Our progress is particularly meaningful given the constraints of operating within a listed building, where every improvement must be carefully considered.  Funding continues to be a vital element in turning our sustainability goals into reality.
