Wac Arts is delighted to offer free workshops in singing, dance and drama to local schools. This opportunity means that more young people in Camden and the local boroughs get to experience our unique syllabus, combining art forms from around the world – not just traditional musical theatre. We have been delivering this syllabus for nearly 40 years, and have trained Oscar and Golden Globe nominees, MOBO award winners and many other successful artists on stage and screen.

“The students loved the workshop! They have been talking about it all morning. Many thanks Wac Arts”
Sophie Leader, Wren Academy

What do you get?

Your students will get an unforgettable experience, working with industry professionals to grow their technique and performance skills. They’ll then be able to use these new techniques in their own work, enriching their performances and hopefully their grades! We may even be able to teach them a new skill.

Our tutors are able to tailor the workshops to the needs of your group, ensuring that it aligns with the outcomes you are aiming to meet with your students.

Other benefits include:

  • Your students will get to meet and work alongside our industry professional tutors, asking them questions about training and working in the profession
  • A chance to get more performing arts training into the school week
  • Opportunity for your students to try out something new that they can draw from in future work
  • They have the chance to find out about our programmes and offer
  • All at no cost or bother to you!

Dance

Our dance programme combines techniques and styles from around the world, to ensure our students have a safe technical base that will support them in their future work. Regular dance classes for our Diploma students include Mattox-based Jazz, Contemporary, Horton, African, Lindy Hop and Musical Theatre Dance.

These workshops are a fantastic opportunity to introduce your students to a style of dance they are not already familiar with. They are most suited to students with some experience and can be delivered in 1 or 2-hour slots.

Drama

Our drama programme incorporates both traditional and contemporary techniques broken down into four areas: text, voice, movement and general studies. We can offer workshops in each of these areas, as well as in specialist skills such as physical theatre, clowning and devising techniques. This training will enable your students to reach the next level in their performances.

Workshops can be delivered in 1 or 2-hour slots.

Singing and Voice

Our singing training focuses on not only developing an individual’s voice, but providing them with techniques to care for their voice for years to come. It combines both solo and group work, and ensures our students are confident in a range of settings. Like the rest of our programme, we also draw from repertoire from around the world, including Jazz standards, African song and Hip Hop.

Workshops can be delivered in 1 or 2 hour slots.

When you enquire about a workshop, we will ask what skills you would like your students to gain and what they are currently studying. We will then match this to our team of tutors, ensuring the workshop delivered is most beneficial to you.

Maybe you want a two-hour workshop that incorporates all three art-forms, based on the play ‘DNA’, but after the school day finishes. Just ask, and we will tailor the workshop to suit your needs.
