Wac Arts Summer Programmes 2016


The Beat Academy
• 21st-22nd July and 25-29th July 2016
• Age group: 12yrs-19yrs
The Beat Academy is a Summer school programme dedicated to music production. Over the course of a week we will be exploring a variety of ways to create music using technology, as well as providing master classes from industry professionals to equip our students with all the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed as a music producer. Expect beat-making sessions, use of hardware (drum machines, synths etc), recording sessions in our professional studio, DJ workshops and mixing and mastering classes.

Previous music production experience is preferred though not essential but a passion for music and sound is a must!


Junior Wac Arts: Circus School
• 25-29th July 2016
• Age group: 5yrs-13yrs
Spend a week exploring a wide range of enjoyable and exciting art forms including aerials, tumbling, acrobatics, circus skills and clowning. A fun filled program to keep young people active, creative and learn a whole new skills base this summer!

• 1st-5th August 2016
• Age group: 12yrs-19yrs
Ever wondered how you even start to learn the skills of a stunt person? Do you see yourself jumping around like a superhero? Then this week of thrilling acrobatic art forms is for you. Join us to explore aerials, parkour (free running), stage combat and sword fighting.


• 8th-12th August
• Age group: 12-18 yrs
BREAKING NEWS!!!! Zombies have invaded the TV studios and taking over our screens
Through the eyes of Zombies, join us in re-imagining your favourite soaps, TV adverts, quiz panel shows and live news and sport broadcasts as well as much much more. Learn how to become a masterful TV production crew and create the very first TV Zombie Broadcast!!!

Inclu-Techno: Part of the over 18s Happy Healthy Independent Living Project
• 15th-17th August 2016
• Age group: 18 + yrs
Young people will explore and develop electronic music ideas and performance techniques for broadcast and a live show. Young people will create their own instruments and sounds via specialist hardware and software using movement, texture and other non traditional techniques with a focus on fun and expressing themselves.


Professional Approaches to Performance
• 22nd-26th August 2016
• Age group: 17-26 yrs
At this week of evening classes you will get the chance to study either drama or singing. This programme is taught by industry professionals at a very high standard and will be an invaluable experience for all budding performers.

Cost of Summer Programmes

£25 for each summer programme.

What else is happening over the summer?

Northern Ireland – Outreach Road Trip – Fully Booked!
• 25th-31st July 2016
• Age group: 12-18 yrs
Wac Arts Interactive will be hitting the road again this summer on their most ambitious Outreach Project to date. The young people participating will be Wac Arts peer to peer trainers, leading Interactive Technology workshops to various organisations and youth groups around Northern Ireland.

Wonder Wac Arts
• Thursday 21st July until Friday 26th August 2016
• Age group: 11-18 yrs

During the summer break Wonder Wac will be providing workshops every day starting on Thursday 21st July all the way through until Friday 26th August. Each week will have a different theme and a fresh staff team to ensure that all of our young people will have a great time with us. The summer affords us, hopefully, some good weather for trips off site, picnics in the park and sports sessions.
We will be running two 5 day residential trips to outdoor adventure centres in the Countryside and each of these trips will include exciting activities and a visit to the seaside.
