Announcing Runner #8!

Wac Arts Director of Philanthropy Sioban Whitney–Low is known at the organisation for getting her friends and family involved at Wac Arts events. Her husband and sons can often be found running the bar at the annual fundraiser or stewarding guests at a show. Knowing that Jack Borrett was an avid runner Sioban asked for his support to join the organisation as a member of the running team who will be taking on the London Landmark’s Half Marathon on Sunday 25th March. Solicitor by trade, Jack has been the Group General Counsel at Babcock International Group for the last 13 years. Jack joined Babcock in 2004 and since 2010 was Deputy Group General Counsel until his appointment as Group General Counsel and Company Secretary on 1 April 2016.

We asked Jack a few questions about his training and preparation for the big day…

How did you get involved with Wac Arts?

I first came to hear about Wac Arts through a friend.

What is it about Wac Arts’ mission that makes you inspired to run a Half Marathon?

I do believe that art in its broadest sense empowers people and can make a real difference

What’s your favourite running tune?

I gotta feeling – Black Eyed Peas

Have you run before? Any half marathons or long distances?

A couple of marathons – but I was younger then!

What is your training schedule?

At the moment, relatively relaxed – inspiration, not perspiration

The event is described as “not your average half marathon! From cultural landmarks and heritage to the city’s quirky and hidden secrets, runners will get to explore the capital on a route like no other!” What excites you about taking part in the London Landmarks half Marathon?

I jumped at the chance to be able to run through the heart of London without running the risk of being run down by a bus!

What will be the first thing you will want to do when you finish the race!?

Stop and sit down!

How much are you hoping to raise?

Aiming for £750

What time are you hoping to complete the race in?

Hoping for somewhere around 1 hour 45 mins

The Wac Arts staff and students will all be at the event on the 25th March to cheer on the runners. Come and join us!
