Community Hub

Wac Arts is based at Hampstead Town Hall, a converted and expanded 19th and early 20th century municipal building, five minutes walk from Belsize Park Tube Station. The Town Hall is a much-loved landmark which local people fought to keep in public use. The charity therefore strives to provide a range of open access activities for local people partly delivered by Wac Arts and partly delivered through the organisations resident in the building such as the University of the Third Age. This is reflected in the charity’s policy to offer a range of discounts on studio hire for Camden-based groups and residents. Wac Arts also provides a range of projects for local children and young people such as after school clubs and holiday play schemes.

Wac Arts works closely with the local community to ensure that the Town Hall is a centre of local activities and cultural events. Many local residents engage in the organisation’s social activities (such as the Hampstead Film Society or Community Choir), or hire event space (for weddings or other functions). Wac Arts also provides office space and services for charities and other local organisations:
